Alessandra Tamashiro Orrego – Master’s in Biomedicine
Alessandra is very interested in translational neuroscience research. Therefore, for her master’s she was looking to learn in a research-intensive environment where she could grow as a biomedical researcher. Karolinska Institutet (KI), as a world-leading medical university, offers exactly that and it has several neuroscience labs conducting fascinating studies. Furthermore, the classes offered in the Master’s in Biomedicine Programme do not focus only on theory, but also on the cultivation of other important competences scientists should have, such as communication skills.
First and foremost, Alessandra is looking forward to learning new things, new concepts, new research, a new language, and much more. At the same time, she is excited to explore Stockholm and Sweden, eat a lot of cinnamon buns, get used to biking and enjoy Swedish nature. She also hopes to attend a Nobel banquet next year!
In 10 years from now, Alessandra sees herself working in academia. She aspires to conduct translational research in neuroscience while mentoring the next generation of scientists. She is excited to see where in the world it will be.
In her free time, she likes exploring new places in the city, dancing, video calling family and friends that live far away, and spending time with friends close by. She also likes to drink peppermint tea while watching stand-up comedies on Netflix.
