How to document your degree if you are conditionally admitted

Find out how to submit documents certifying your degree or apply for an exemption if you have been conditionally admitted to a global master’s programme.

If you have been conditionally admitted, it is important that you submit any necessary documents by the deadline, or you will be declared unqualified and your conditional admission will be cancelled. It also means you will not be able to be granted a deferral of studies.

Deadline: 25 August 2025

  • Last day to submit any documents certifying your degree.
  • Last day to check that your degree is registered in your account if you have a Swedish degree
  • Last day to apply for an exemption and submit any necessary documents if you are graduating after the deadline.

Instructions

If you have completed your degree abroad, you must submit your degree documentation to universityadmissions.se as soon as your degree has been awarded or by the deadline.

  1. Check the country instructions on how to submit your documents
  2. Submit your documents to University Admissions in Sweden according to the instructions.
  3. University Admissions will check your documentation (please allow them some time to assess your documentation). In case they need additional documents, they will notify you in your account. If you are unsure if you have submitted the correct documentation, you can also contact them directly.
  4. University Admissions in Sweden will register your degree in the admissions system after they have received the required documents. Your status will change from conditionally admitted to admitted in your account. Your status on your printable Notification of Selection will however not change.
  5. The Admissions Office at KI will check that your degree has been registered in the admissions system after the deadline.

If you have completed your degree in Sweden, you usually do not need to submit any documents to antagning.se/universityadmissions.se. You must however make sure that your degree has been registered in your account at antagning.se/universityadmissions.se.

  1. Check that you have applied for your bachelor’s degree to be awarded. Please see the website of your university for more information.
  2. When your degree has been awarded, please also check that your degree has been registered in your account at antagning.se/universityadmissions.se.
  3. The Admissions Office at KI will check that your degree has been registered in the admissions system after the deadline.

If you meet all the degree requirements by the deadline but have not yet been awarded your degree, Karolinska Institutet can grant you an exemption from the degree requirement.

  1. Ask your university to write a letter explaining why you have not received your official degree and approximately when your degree will be awarded. Email the letter to admissions@ki.se by the deadline.
  2. You must also submit an official transcript of record with the final grades to universityadmissions.se according to the country instructions by the deadline. If you are studying in Sweden you should login to your account at antagning.se/universityadmissions.se and check that all mandatory courses/modules with grades have been registered.
  3. If you are granted an exemption from the degree requirement you can go ahead and register for the programme.
  4. As soon as you receive your official degree, you must submit the final degree documentation to University Admissions in Sweden according to the country instructions. University Admissions will check your documentation (please allow them some time to assess your documentation). In case they need additional documents, they will notify you in your account. If you are unsure if you have submitted the correct documentation you can also contact them directly.
  5. University Admissions in Sweden will register your degree in the admissions system after they have received the required documents. Without a registered degree in the admissions system, you cannot go for exchange studies or be awarded a master's degree from Karolinska Institutet.
