Outcomes
The general the aim of the course is that the student should independently obtain occasion to deepen and broaden his knowledge within optional field within the main field of study biomedical laboratory science or within main field's of study disciplinary foundation. The course places weight at the all parts of the report writing and at understanding of the concepts evidence-based knowledge and quality assurance.
Knowledge and understanding On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- Explain the concept evidence-based knowledge and be able to relate to evidence-based knowledge within chosen field
- Describe how quality assurance can be carried out within chosen field
- Be able to account for one or the methods that are included of the project
Skills and ability On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- Independently search, evaluate and review relevant information and scientific literature critically
- Formulate an issue, plan, carry out and compile an independent project in a written report from the structure of a scientific work
- In oral and written form present a report on the chosen field for different groups
Judgement and approach On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- Demonstrate the ability to identify his needs of additional knowledge and to develop his skills
- Demonstrate a good treatment and a professional attitude vis-à-vis individuals with relation to the project for example health-care personnel or patients
Content
The student should deepen and broaden his practical and theoretical knowledge and relate this to research within chosen the field. An important part in the course consist of the report that the student should write. The report treats the current field related to evidence-based knowledge and quality assurance. At the end of the course, the report is presented both orally and in writing.
Teaching methods
The course is mainly included of degree project under certain supervision. In the course, seminars are furthermore included.
Examination
The course is examined through an oral and written presentation of the report within chosen field. Seminars are compulsory. In case of absence, an agreement concerning supplementation is made between the student and the responsible teacher.
A re-examination is given in connection with the course and ytterliggare a be given in connection with the omexaminationsperioden before the start of the autumn semester. The students who does not are passed after regular examination session have a right to participate at ytterliggare five examination sessions. As examination session, the times that the student has participated are counted in an and the same tests. Submission of blank exam is counted as an examination session. Examination session to which the student registered but not participated be counted not as examination session.
If placement is included in the project, examiner with immediate impact can interrupt a student's placement (placement) or the equivalent if the student shows such serious deficiencies in knowledge, skills or attitudes that the patient security or the patients' trust for the healthcare are jeopardised. In such cases, an individual action plan should be established for the student of responsible and examiner.
Transitional provisions
Examination according to this syllabus will be provided during a year after a decision on close-down of the course or revision of the syllabus

The course evaluation will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines established by the Board of Higher Education.
