Content
Introduction to nursing and care science through literature search and analysis.
Teaching methods
Individual studies in combination with supervision. No compulsory attendance. A problem based pedagogical approach where the way of working gives the student the possibility to take active responsibility for the own learning process. The student will have access to approx. 2 hours of supervision as needed.
Examination
The examination assignment is an individual written paper with relevant question/topic connected to nursing/care science of the student's own choice. The ECTS grading scale (A - F, 7-grades) will be applied. Students who do not pass a regular examination will be given an option to rework the paper.
A student who has not passed the regular examination has the right to participate in five more examinations. This does not apply when the course has been discontinued or has undergone major changes. If the student has failed six examinations/tests, no further examination will be given. Examinations include the times the student has participated in the same examination. Submission of a blank exam counts as an examination. A digital examination that has been opened is counted as a used examination opportunity even if the examination has not been submitted. An examination for which the student has registered but not participated is not counted as an examination.
Late submissions will not be considered. Students who have not submitted on time are referred to the re-examination. The examiner assesses whether a student has special reasons for the delay. The examiner is given the opportunity to make a decision on supplementing the examination documentation in order to achieve a passing grade. A student who does not have a passing grade after three completed examinations may be offered to retake the module or course once more. This is subject to availability.
The examiner assesses whether and, if so, how absence from compulsory course elements can be compensated. Until the student has participated in the compulsory course elements or compensated for absence in accordance with the examiner's instructions, the study results cannot be reported. Absence from a compulsory course element may mean that the student cannot retake the opportunity until the next time the course is given.
If there are special reasons, or a need for adaptation for a student with a disability, the examiner may decide to deviate from the syllabus's regulations regarding the form of examination, the number of examinations, the possibility of supplementation or exemptions from compulsory course components, etc. Content and intended learning outcomes, as well as the level of expected skills, knowledge and abilities, may not be changed, removed or reduced.
Other directives
The course will be evaluated in accordance with the guidelines established by the Board of Education.
The course may not be included in a degree at the same time as a completed and passed course, the content of which fully or partly corresponds to the content of the course.
