Course syllabus for Professional Identity within Healthcare from a Global Perspective

30 ECTS in Occupational Therapy or in an other subject ( i e nursing, physiotherapy) from a foreign institution.

Objectives

Learning objectives
The student should on completion of the course be able to

• analyse and discuss the consequences of different health status and cultural aspects
• explane and analyse key components in health care and rehabilitation from a global perspective
• describe inter-professional and international perspectives of health and rehabilitation
• understand and have knowledge of Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR)
• understand and have knowledge of the World Health Organisation's (WHO's) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's)

Content

The course has two modules.

Internationalisation at home - rehabilitation in theory and in practice, 1.5 credits

Grading scale: GU
Module 2 entail internationalisation at the home at the univiersity of each student. Here students communicate their knowledge on keycomponents important for high quality healthcare as well as the student´s particular professional identity from a global perspective, to other peers.

Interprofessional and international perspectives on health and rehabilitation, 1.5 credits

Grading scale: GU
In module 1, the applications of CBR or other rehabilitation in different countries is discussed. Also the organisaton and access to healthcare and rehabilitation in societies, at home and in institution are addressed. Ths also include ethical and socioeconomic perspecitves related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG´S)

Teaching methods

The teachning is based on a problem-oriented and collaborative approach to learning in which the tasks provide opportunities for the students to take active responsibility for the individual learning.The used teaching methods are lectures, seminars, group work and case studies as well preperations and to in a way of your own choosing presenting module two (f e film). The examiner decides whether, and if so how, absence from compulsory course elements can be made up. Study results cannot be reported until the student has participated in compulsory course elements or compensated for any absence in accordance with instructions from the examiner. Absence from a compulsory course element could mean that the student cannot retake the element until the next time the course is offered.

Examination

The course examination is as follow:
**Module 1: Interprofessional and international perspectives on health and rehabilitation **1,5 ECTS

• a poster presentation carried out in a group

**Module 2: Internationalisation at home - rehabilitation in theory and in practice **1,5 ECTS

• an individual written abstract with a plan for a presentation at the home University.

Grading scale: Pass/Fail.

Students who do not pass a regular examination are entitled to re-sit the examination on five occasions more. If the student has failed a total of six examinations/tests, no additional examination is given. Each occasion the student participates in the same test counts as an examination. Submission of a blank exam paper is regarded as an examination. In case a student is registered for an examination but does not attend, this is not regarded as an examination. Late submissions of examinations are not accepted. Students who have not submitted on time are referred to re-examination.

If special needs exists, or need of adaptation för students with disabilities the examiner can make the desicion to deviate from the syllabus rules regarding form of examination, number of examinations, the possibility to complementary or exceptions from mandatory moments etc. Content and goals for the course and anticipation of skills, knowledge and abilities can´t be changed, removed or lowered.

The course is in english.

The course will not be credited in a degree together with another course the student has completed and passed which completely or partly corresponds to the contents of this course. The following courses are partly overlapping: 1EE021, Community- and homebased rehabilitation - Cultural Perspectives (international students) 7.5 ECTS and 1XX011, Community- and homebased rehabilitation - Cultural Perspectives (swedish students), 7.5 ECTS.
