Litteraturgranskning för utbytesstudenter ur ett fysioterapeutiskt perspektiv
Essential data
Specific entry requirements
The course is intended for exchange students from partner universities with established agreements with the Study Programme in Physiotherapy at Karolinska Institutet.
General eligibility for higher education studies is required, as well as previously completed studies in the main subject of physiotherapy corresponding to at least 60 higher education (ECTS) credits. In addition, the following specific entry requirements apply:
- very good knowledge of English or Swedish
- at least two years of studies in a physiotherapy programme or equivalent education
Outcomes
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- formulate a research question relevant to a literature analysis within physiotherapy
- search for, review, and present literature within a physiotherapy subject area
- critically evaluate and discuss possible conclusions drawn from the literature analysis
- discuss potential similarities and differences in relation to physiotherapy practice in Sweden and in the student's home country
Content
Introduction to physiotherapy science through literature search and analysis, in which the student, independently but with access to supervision, shall carry out a scientific literature search and produce a written report and analysis of its findings.
Teaching methods
The teaching is based on a problem‑oriented approach to learning, in which the working methods create conditions for the student to actively take responsibility for their own learning. The methods used consist of independent work, with access to supervision when needed.
Examination
The course is examined through an individual written assignment.
The grading scale is Pass/Fail. The examiner may convert the result to another grading scale (e.g. A–F) if required by the partner university.
Examination assignments submitted after the deadline will not be considered. The examiner assesses whether a student has specific reasons for the delay. The examiner may decide on supplementary work in order for the student to achieve a passing result.
A student who does not pass the regular examination is entitled to participate in five additional examination sessions. This does not apply if the course has been discontinued or has undergone substantial changes.
If special reasons exist, or if adaptations are required for a student with a disability, the examiner may decide on deviations from the examination forms, the number of examination opportunities, the possibility of supplementary work, or exemptions from compulsory components. However, the course objectives and the expected knowledge, skills, and abilities may not be altered, reduced, or removed.
Transitional provisions
Examination will be offered for one year after discontinuation or change of syllabus.
