Passed results from semester 1 - 3 of the Study Programme in Psychology, 90 credits, and at least 15 credits from semester 4.

  • show good skills in scientific writing
  • show a scientific approach to the chosen topic

Content

The objective of the course is to deepen the student's knowledge on a chosen topic within the scientific discipline of psychology from a problem that has been formulated in advance in collaboration with the examiner and, if needed, a supervisor.

The course is to its main part based on the reading of scientific literature and independent writing. Literature search, scientific writing and good research practice are included into the course.

Teaching methods

The course starts with a meeting with the examiner and, if needed, a supervisor in which the problem of the work is stated. Thereafter the student gathers information on his/her own through literature search, reading and analysis of the material. The type of supervision may vary. During the course, the student writes a short report that is discussed with the examiner and, if needed, a supervisor. The report is analysed by URKUND (KI's system to prevent plagiarism).

Examination

The grading system of the course is Fail (U) and Pass (G). The course is examined through a written report and an oral discussion with the examiner and, if needed, a supervisor. Instructions and grading criteria for the written report and the oral discussion will be provided at no later than the course start.

If the written report and the oral discussion is graded with (U), an opportunity to make up the work is provided. A student with a failed result after the ordinary examination, has the right to participate at an additional five examinations.

The regulations on transitions are in accordance with the local guidelines of KI.

Other directives

The course evaluation is finalised in accordance with the local guidelines of KI. Written assignments will be analysed by URKUND.
