Specific entry requirements
At least 180 credits in biomedicine, biotechnology, cellular and molecular biology or medicine. The student must present TOEFL test (Test of English as Foreign Language) in the modalities iBT (Internet Based Test), minimum score of 90 points (no band under 20) or PBT (Paper Based Test), minimum score of points, 575 or IELTS minimum score of 6.5 points (no band less than 5,5).
Outcomes
The goal of the course is to give the students an opportunity to work, under supervision, with a research project within the field of biomedicine. The emphasis is on methodological training and the students will improve their experimental skills and scientific attitude.
Knowledge and understanding
• The student shall be able to use experimental methods to solve a given scientific task.
• The student shall be able to collect and summarise data for statistical analysises.
• The student shall be able to aquire scientific literature of relevance to the project.
Skills and ability
• The student shall show independence, critical and creative thinking.
• The student should be able to skillfully master an experimental method within the field of biomedicine
Evaluation ability and approach
• The student shall appreciate the benefit of realistic time planning, collaboration, and the link between theoretical and practical knowledge.
• The student shall in a safe manner and in good order be able to handle valuable scientific material.
• The student shall perform the project work in an ethical correct manner.
Content
Individual work with emphasis on practical experimental work including a component of literature studies.
An individual study plan will be written jointly by the student and supervisor. The project plan also serves as a project description with emphasis on methodologies.
Teaching methods
Individual laboratory work under supervision.
Examination
Written summary of the work and a short oral presentation. The grade is based on laboratory and practical skills and the final presentations and is set by the examiner following consultation with the examining teacher and the supervisor.
The course director assesses if and, in that case, how absence can be compensated. Before the student has participated in all compulsory parts or compensated absence in accordance with the course director's instructions, the student's results for respective part will not be registered in LADOK.
Limited number of examinations or practical training sessions
Students who have not passed the regular examination are entitled to participate in five more examinations. If the student has failed six examinations/tests no additional examination is provided. The number of times that the student has participated in one and the same examination is regarded as an examination session. Submission of a blank examination is regarded as an examination. An examination for which the student registered but not participated in, will not be counted as an examination.

Evaluation of the course will be done following the course.
The language of instruction is English.
