Specific entry requirements
Speech and Language Pathology degree of 240 credits, plus at least 7.5 credits at the advanced level in scientific theory and method.
Alternatively, a Speech and Language Pathology degree of 180 credits, plus at least 15 credits at the advanced level in scientific theory and method. In addition, Swedish B/Swedish 3 and English A/English 6 are required, with a minimum grade of Pass/E.

After completing the course, the student should be able to:

Content
The student will independently, with consultative supervision, carry out a study encompassing all stages of the research process: literature searches, formulation of research questions, data collection, data processing, interpretation, and presentation. The work must be conducted independently, and its scope and quality should correspond to a publishable article intended for a scientific journal within the field of speech-language pathology. The student shall also summarize the study in Swedish, intended for a professional or popular science journal.
Teaching methods
The course includes literature studies, supervision, and seminars featuring project presentations and peer review. Some seminars may be held on campus, while others may take place remotely.
Examination
To pass the course, the student must present and defend their study and manuscript at a seminar with an opponent.
Examination is only offered during a three-month period at the end of the spring semester. If the student fails the course or has not completed the thesis, the next opportunity for examination will be during the corresponding three-month period the following year.
If there are special circumstances, or if adaptations are needed for a student with a disability, the examiner may decide to deviate from the course syllabus regarding the form of examination, number of examination opportunities, possibility for supplementation, or exemptions from compulsory course components, etc. However, the content and learning outcomes, as well as the expected level of skills, knowledge, and abilities, may not be changed, removed, or lowered.
Transitional provisions
Examination will be offered for a period of two years following any potential discontinuation of the course. Examination may be conducted according to the previous reading list for up to one year after the reading list has been updated.
Other directives
For a Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology, specific requirements apply according to the degree guidelines at Karolinska Institutet.
Course evaluation will be conducted in accordance with the guidelines established by the Committee for Education at the Undergraduate and Advanced Levels.
Language of Instruction: Swedish, although teaching in English may occur.
