Specific entry requirements
Candidate - or professional qualification about at least 180 credits of which at least the 120 credits within behavioural science subjects. English and Swedish language skills equivalent to English A/English 6 and Swedish B/Swedish 3 at Swedish upper secondary school are also required.
Outcomes
The student should be able to on completion of the course:
- account for and analyse theories, models and current research concerning leadership in the working life.
- reflect around the importance for working environment and health in an organisation of the leadership.
- evaluate leadership development measures.
- reflect around scientific and ethical aspects on leadership and management development in the working life.
Content
Important leadership theories and models as well as theories of the importance for working environment and health in organisations of the leadership are treated. The historical development is brought up, with an emphasis on leadership in working life of today and in modern organisations. Current research in the area is discussed. Important fields within personnel management and human resource management be treated e g recruitment, working environment and health.
Methodological and ethical aspects around leadership and management development are discussed.
Teaching methods
The teaching consists of a combination of distance education and scheduled campus time. The tuition forms at the campus teaching include lectures, seminars and group assignments. The distance education includes literature studies, group assignments, report writing, interview surveys etc
At the campus teaching can occur compulsory attendance at certain teaching parts.
Examination
Examination takes place through individual, written examination, and a written written assignment with oral presentation in seminars. The examination of the written assignment is assessed from both written contents and oral presentation.
The grading system is Failed/Passed/Passed with distinction.
A Pass grade requires attendance at compulsory lectures. The course leader decides if and how absence from training should be compensated. Before student has participated in compulsory lectures or compensated absence in accordance with the instructions of Course Coordinator be reported not the student's course result in LADOK.
Limited number of examinations The student has the right to participate in six examination sessions. If the student is not passed after four examination sessions, he or she is urged to visit the study adviser.
Participation in an examination is defined as an occasion on which a student attends an examination. The submission of a blank examination paper is counted as an examination. An examination for which the student registered but not participated in, will not be regarded as an examination.
Other directives
Course evaluation will be carried out according to the guidelines that are established by the Board for education and based on evaluation routines within the Master's programme (one-year) in work and health.
Literature and other teaching aids
Further literature in the form of eg scientific articles, regulations, and reports will be applicable.
