Specific entry requirements

Qualification in biomedical laboratory science of 180 credits or Bachelor of Science in biomedical laboratory science of at least 180 credits. Furthermore, knowledge is required in Swedish and English equivalent to Swedish B and English A (with at least the Pass grade).

Content

The course starts with an overview of with different, for diagnostic cytology relevant, types of normal cells and tissues. Thereafter, general disease processes and their connection to development of diseases that are diagnosed with cytologic methods are treated. After survey of disease mechanisms, selected diseases relevant for diagnostic cytology are discussed.
During a project work the students will perform a litterature search and an in-depth study of diseases relevant for diagnostic cytology and present these.

Independent litterature search and gatherng of information regarding disease mechanisms, written compilation of the material in the form of a anssignment and an oral examination thereof.

The teaching includes lectures and project work.

Transitional provisions

The course will be offered for the last time in the autumn semester of 2022 and will then be cancelled. Examination will be provided until the sprina of 2024 for students who have not completed the course. Information about the date of examination will be provided
on the coursewebb.
