Based on the research plan that was approved in the course Theory and methodology of science - specialist training in odontology 2, a study is planned and conducted in the form of an experiment or thorough the collection of material and data, under the consultative guidance from a supervisor with a research degree. A scientific degree project is written containing the following: summary, introduction, materials and methods, results and discussion in English. The quality and the scope of the degree project should correspond to an article intended for publishing in a scientific journal within the field of dentistry. The results of the study are compiled, and the work is presented continuously in the form of progress reports in seminars or as a written memorandum. The degree project must be written in English and is presented in public to other students, supervisors and examiners.

Teaching methods

The main methodology used for this course is that the student should plan and carry out his/her own original research under supervision and present this work in written form as a scientific article. Compulsory requirements are research seminars as well as regular meetings with the supervisor. In the event of absence, an established time plan for compensation should be agreed with the course coordinator.

Examination

The research work is to be presented in a seminar once the other compulsory modules are completed. The work is reviewed by an external examiner and will be opposed by another student from the course. The student also should review and discuss another student's research work. If the student does not submit the thesis at the normal time or does not carry out the examination, he/she must wait until the next examination opportunity. Examinations are carried out once every semester

Transitional provisions

Examination will be provided during a period of two years after a possible closing of the course. Examination can be carried out according to an earlier literature list during a period of one year after the date of a renewal of the literature list.
