Specific entry requirements

To be qualified to a higher semester, it is required that the student has taken at least 10 credits from last semester, and all credits from previous semesters.

Outcomes

On the basis of the main field of study X-ray examinations delimit and formulate a research problem.

Apply scientific methodology and design in the research process.

Apply methods for data collection and analysis.

Show a capacity for independent, critical and creative thinking

Be able to write a research oriented report in a scientific language

Be able to present and critically review a scientific work

Content

By means of the different parts of the research process and on the basis of guidelines for the degree project, the student describes a problem area and an objective of his/her study. This is then answered through established scientific data collection and analysis methods.

The course also includes a presentation and defence of the degree project in an open seminar with an oral critical reviewer. Furthermore, to analyse and assess another student's degree project critically.

Teaching methods

The course is carried out through an own independent project with regular meetings with the supervisor appointed by the department .

Examination

To pass the course, a presented and approved degree project is required . Furthermore, carrying out a critical oral review of another student's degree project is required . Approval of the course takes place according to the guidelines for degree projects established by the programme committee of the Study Programme in Radiography.

Transitional provisions

The course has been cancelled and was offered for the last time in the spring semester of 2010. Examination will be provided until the autumn of 2017 for students who have not completed the course.

Other directives

Course evaluation will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines established by the Board of Education at Karolinska Institutet.
