Specific entry requirements

The courses in the program should be taken in the order stated in the programme curriculum. For admission to a higher semester, a student may have no more than 15 credits outstanding from the previous semester.

Objectives

The general aims of the course are that the student should acquire knowledge of pedagogical theories of relevance to work with people. Learning outcomes On completion of the course, the student should - describe the basic view of different pedagogical orientations - apply concepts related to communication theory - describe and reflect on different theories of motivation and learning - account for different forms of supervision

Content

- classical and modern pedagogical specialties - educational meetings and communication methodology - verbal and non-verbal communication - theories of motivation - different forms of supervision

Teaching methods

The working method is problem-oriented. The students will work both individually and in groups, and reflect on the own learning during the course. Working forms that are used are seminars, presentations, exercises/laboratory sessions and lectures.

Examination

The course is examined through a written, individual examination. Grading scale Pass with distinction/Pass/Fail All examinations, seminars and exercises/laboratory sessions are compulsory. In case of absence, an agreement is made between the student and the responsible teacher concerning the acquisition of knowledge. The examinations included in the course are conducted according to established assessment criteria. Re-examination takes place on 5 occasions at most. These are scheduled for the week before the start of the autumn semester, the week before the start of the spring semester and the week after the end of the spring semester. Any changes are posted on the course web page.

Transitional provisions

Examination will be provided during a period of two years after any close-down of the course or a new syllabus.

Other directives

Course evaluation A course evaluation will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines established by the Board of Education at KI. A course report with an analysis of the results of the course evaluation will be posted on the course web page after the completion of the course evaluation.
