Specific entry requirements

Admission to the course requires that the student has completed at least 45 credits from semester 1-2, with passing grades in Part 1 and 2 from the course Hearing assessment 1.
 

Objectives

The general the aim of this course is to introduce different educational methods, strategies and attitudes to give the student tools to be able to communicate knowledge of hearing for both groups as for individuals. The course constitutes a basis for future courses in hearing rehabilitation.

The expected learning outcomes of the course
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- explain how the learning situation can be adapted to hearing-impaired individuals and their relatives
- carry out group education and reflect over one's own and others' ability to teach

Content

The following parts are included:

Adult Education, 4 hp The course deals with the subject pedagogics with an emphasis on the learning of adults and the elderly. Special preconditions to communicate knowledge to hearing-impaired and their relatives include in the teaching. The course contains an overview of modern teaching and learning and discussion about differences between conveyance of knowledge to groups or independent patients. Practical exercises to hold performances and teach before group is included. Further, the role as a supervisor is treated The relationship between memory functions and learning is covered. Group tuition, 2 hp Planning, implementation and analysis of a shorter education in an audiology connected subject that is presented to an outside group.

Teaching methods

Lectures, group work, group education and seminars. Group work, group education and seminars are compulsory.

In case of absence from compulsory part, the student is responsible for contacting the course coordinator for a complementary assignment.

The course director assesses how absence from compulsory education elements can be replaced. Before the student has participated in the compulsory parts or has replaced compulsory education, in accordance to the instructions of the course director, the final study results cannot be reported.
Absence from a compulsory education element may lead to that the student can not recover the occasion until next time the course is offered.

Examination

Part 1: Adult Education and learning 4 HE credits
Written take-home exam

Part 2: Group tuition 2 HE credits
Oral group presentation and video analysis

For a Pass grade in the course, attendance at compulsory parts is also required.

For students who have not passed the regular examination, possibility for re-examination is offered at a total of five examinations, of which the three last in connection to the next occasion when the course is given. As examination, the times are counted when the student has participated in the same test. Supplementary qualification of written additions is counted as an examination.

Transitional provisions

Examination may take place under the previous reading list during a period of one year after the date of the renewal of the reading list. Examination will be provided during a period of two years after a close-down of the course.

Assessment criteria for examination, specific instructions for certain tasks and timetable with specification of compulsory parts and list of responsible teachers may be found on Pingpong on the first day of the course.

Course evaluation will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines established by the Board of Education. Course evaluation will be carried out both through a written course evaluation at the end of the course, and through an oral course forum at least once in connection with the course, where the students may express their opinions.
