Theme Professional Development - The Physiotherapist in the Profession, 3 credits

The course Theme professional development - the physiotherapist in the profession  (3 credits) has as prerequisites that the following credits must have been approved:  All previous credits from semester 1 - semester 4 (120 hp), as well as module 1 in the course Theme Healthcare - Physiotherapy in Primary Care.

The aim of the course is that the student will make their own development within physiotherapy visible and prepare for continuous professional development and lifelong learning.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:

• Reflect on own development and discuss it in relation to physiotherapy as a subject area and as a profession
• Identify and discuss strategies for managing knowledge gaps and uncertainty and create a plan for continuous professional development (CPD).

The course builds on the content of all previous courses in the program and on the material collected from students portfolios.

The teaching is based on self-directed learning with a focus on collegial and individual reflection. A blended learning approach will be used and conducted interactively via the learning platform or other digital means.

The course coordinator decides whether, and if so how, absence from compulsory course elements can be made up. Study results cannot be reported until the student has participated in compulsory course elements or compensated for any absence in accordance with instructions from the course coordinator. Absence from a compulsory course element could mean that the student can not retake the element until the next time the course is offered.

The course is examined according to the following:

Organization and presentation of own portfolio and peer review of one other portfolio.

To pass the course, grade Pass is required on all examination assignments. Late submissions of examinations are not accepted. Students who have not submitted on time are referred to re-examination. Students who do not pass a regular examination are entitled to resit the examination on five more occasions. If the student has failed six examinations/tests, no additional examination will be provided.

If there are special grounds, or a need for adaptation for a student with a disability, the examiner may decide to deviate from the syllabus's regulations on the examination form, the number of examination opportunities,  the possibility of supplementation or exemptions from the compulsory section/s of the course etc.   Content and learning outcomes as well as the level of expected skills, knowledge and abilities may not be changed, removed or reduced.

An examination will be made available for a period of one year in the event of the course being discontinued or a new course syllabus being devised.

Course evaluation is carried out according to the guidelines established by the Board of Education.
