Specific entry requirements
Objectives
The course intends to give a broad, and basic knowledge about how results from clinical physiological and neurophysiological studies can be interpreted. The target group of the course is primarily not the occupational group that carries out and interpret the answers but the professional groups that are themselves more peripheral, as secretary, technical staff, care administrators and similar. On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- Describe basic anatomy and physiology in the healthy human
- Account for the contents in and the extent of the most common clinical physiological and neurophysiological studies.
- Explain, at a general level, the practical implementation of the most frequently used clinical physiological and neurophysiological studies.
- Explain the main contents of the results that is acquired in commonly used clinical physiological and neurophysiological studies.
- Be able to, at a general level, identify and explain pathological findings that can be found in commonly used clinical physiological and neurophysiological studies.
- Account for the nomenclature and its meaning that is used in the interpretation of frequently occurring clinical physiological and neurophysiological studies.
Content
In the teaching, systematic anatomy and physiology is integrated with different studies to establish physical, bodily functions. The underlying technology and implementation of the examination methods are connected, to the results, and the interpretation of these on both the healthy and sick human. The treatment of current pathological findings is discussed at a general level.
Teaching methods
The teaching is given as lectures, IT-based group assignments, seminars and laboratory sessions.
Examination
Examination takes place in the form of oral presentations in groups, and individual written final examination.
Seminars, group assignments and laboratory sessions are compulsory. In case of absence, an agreement concerning compensation is made between the student and the responsible teacher .
A student who has failed in the regular examination, is entitled to participate in five more examinations. If the student has failed six examinations/tests, no more examination is offered. The number of times that the student has participated in one and the same examination is regarded as an examination session. Submission of a blank examination is regarded as an examination. An examination for which the student registered but not participated in, will not be regarded as an examination.
Transitional provisions
Examination will be provided during a period of two years after a close-down of the course. Examination may take place under a previous reading list during a period of one year after the date of the renewal of the reading list.
The course has been cancelled.
Other directives
Course evaluation will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines established by the Board of Higher Education. Language of instruction is Swedish.
