Specific entry requirements

To be qualified to a higher semester, it is required that the student has taken at least 15 HE credits from last semester, and all credits from previous semesters.

Objectives

Be able to describe the general principles of interventional studies. Identify the body vessels in extremities, abdomen, brain and heart, and be able to account for the physiology of the vessels Be able to describe conditions and diseases that are examined and treated with interventional methods Describe current drugs within the interventional activities Be able to assist and apply an aseptic and sterile procedure in interventional examinations and treatments Apply established routines of pre- and postwork in an interventional examination/treatment Apply established routines for observation of patient status Identify the patient's nursing needs and give adequate information in connection with the study

Content

The placement in the course is carried out in three angiographic clinics (peripheral, coronary and neuro). The student is trained to carry out angiographic tasks by participation in commonly occurring examinations within peripheral, coronary and neurological fields. Through literature studies, the student should acquire theoretical knowledge of vascular anatomy/physiology, diseases and treatment forms.

Teaching methods

The working methods that are used during the course are placement, seminars and selfstudy. Compulsory participation: Clinical education and seminars are compulsory. Compensation of absence in compulsory parts is discussed and determined by the responsible examiner of the course.

Examination

A Pass grade in the course requires approved participation in placement that includes practical examination assignment and approved oral and written examination.
