Specific entry requirements

To be qualified to a higher semester, it is required that the student has taken at least 15 ECT credits from last semester, and all credits from previous semesters.

Objectives

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

  • identify the patient's specific nursing needs, discuss and evaluate them and relate to nursing theories
  • reflect and argue around the concept of equal value, gender, equality and cultural aspects based on health care perspective and in relation to own values 
  • account for the health-care personnel's obligations related to professional status qualification and current regulations
  • understand the importance of documentation within the radiological activities
  • describe the individual's different reactions and defense in crisis situations and needs of treatment in crisis
  • reflect around the concept of professional attitude and the ethical code of the radiographer in the radiographer´s profession
  • relate to current research within the different aspects which are discussed in this course
  • reflect on ethical dilemmas in research and healthcare

Content

The course discusses patients' specific nursing needs and the meaning of professional approaches in the fprofession of a radiographer. Furthermore, equal treatment, gender, gender equality and cultural aspects are treated to meet good treatment. The course studies the meaning of constitutions, legitimacy and occupational code and their significance for the radiographer´s professional practice and patient safety. The students will also be part of the course to study the patients' own experiences of disease and health care in the patography seminar. The course highlights and discusses ethical aspects in research and care.

Teaching methods

In this course, work forms such as lectures, written assignments, seminars, presentations and literature studies are used.

The examiner decides whether, and if so, how absence from compulsory educational elements can be taken again. Study results cannot be reported until the student has participated in compulsory course elements or compensated for any absence in accordance with instructions from the examiner. Absence from a compulsory course element could mean that the student can not retake the element until the next time the course is offered.

Examination

In order to be approved for the course, approved completion of compulsory modules and approved individual assignments are required.

In consultation with the examiner of the course, the student may get a complementary assignment in case of absence from a compulsory part.

The student has the right to a total of six test to pass. In connection to the course three occasions will be given One within the course, two during the following re-examinations. In certain cases, it is required that the student submits an exemption application before he/she get the results of his/her latest completed examination. Three more opportunities will be provided as described above when the course is run next time.

If the course is examined by a extern exam, or other assignments with deadlines, a latest submission date is given at the introduction of the course. In cases where a completion is required a new date for latest submission is set. If the requirements for submission are not fulfilled the student is given the opportunity to submit the exam or the assignment at the next time course is given. Reasons for not meeting deadlines may be taken under consideration by examiner.

If there are special grounds, or a need for adaptation for a student with a disability, the examiner may decide to deviate from the syllabus's regulations on the examination form, the number of examination opportunities,  the possibility of supplementation or exemptions from the compulsory section/s of the course etc.   Content and learning outcomes as well as the level of expected skills, knowledge and abilities may not be changed, removed or reduced

Transitional provisions

The student has the opportunity to be examined according to a previous course syllabus within a year from the date when a close-down or major changes or the course was decided.

Other directives

Course evaluation will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines established by the Committee for Higher Education.

The course may not be credited in the degree at the same time as the completed and approved course, whose content fully or partially corresponds to the content of the course.
