Objectives
Learning outcomes
The teaching aims to provide the student with knowledge in anatomy that facilitates the understanding of other subjects within the program.
The student should on completion of the course be able to: explain the macroscopic structure of the organs and organ systems of the human body, their vessel and innervation supply and internal relationships, identify osteological structures, muscles and nerves of the trunk, the throat and the head, and the leg and the arm with an emphasis on surface anatomic knowledge, apply the functional anatomy in the analysis of normal function, apply the anatomy knowledge in connection with clinical issues concerning physical injuries and strain problems
Content
The course in Anatomy is divided in three parts.
Anatomy of the movement apparatus, 4.5 hp
Part 1: Anatomy of the movement apparatus, part 1-3, 4.5 HE credits.
Part 1 comprises basic terminology, overview of the movement apparatus, an introduction to neuro-anatomy and the anatomy of the trunk, the throat and the head.
Part 2 comprises the anatomy of the leg.
Part 3 comprises the anatomy of the arm.
The parts are interleaved with the course in Physiotheraphy 1 - Theme the human in motion 7.5 HE credits.
Anatomy of the nervous system, 1.5 hp
The part comprises the anatomy of the nervous system and is studied in connection with the course on the physiology of the nervous system.
Anatomy of the inner organs, 1.5 hp
The part comprises the anatomy of the internal organ systems and is studied following the course on the physiology of the internal organ systems.
Teaching methods
The teaching comprises lectures and teacher-supervised group assignments with study questions, practical exercises, model studies and preparation demonstrations. In addition to this, the student is expected to acquire a large part of the knowledge through self-study.
Examination
The course is examined according to the following:
Examination of Anatomy, part 1, Anatomy of the movement apparatus, takes place both in the form of (3) compulsory case seminars, and in the form of a written examination. Grading scale: Pass with distinction/Pass/Fail
Examination of Anatomy, part 2, Anatomy of the nervous system, takes place in the form of a written examination. Grading scale: Pass with distinction/Pass/Fail
Examination of Anatomy, part 3, Anatomy of the inner organs, takes place in the form of a written examination. Grading scale: Pass with distinction/Pass/Fail
Compulsory participation for a pass grade on a course is:
Each part within Anatomy, part 1 is completed with a compulsory case seminar. A Pass grade in the seminar requires that the student participates actively and contributes knowledge and reflections leading up to the solution of the assignment. Absence from this part is substituted by a written assignment. Passed case seminars are a requirement for passing the course.
For Pass with distinction in the subparts, it is required that the student adequately can apply anatomic explanatory models to clinical problems. For the grade Pass with distinction for the whole course, a pass with distinction is required for 2 of the parts.
In case of failure in the regular examination, the student is given the opportunity to return to a make-up examination during the same semester. After that, the student has the possibility to be examined on two occasions each semester in the following semesters. The student has a possibility of, all in all, six examinations.
Transitional provisions
The course has been cancelled and was offered for the last time in the spring semester of 2011. Examination will be provided until the spring semester of 2021 for students who have not completed the course
Other directives
Course evaluation
Course evaluation is conducted according to the guidelines established by the Board of Education at KI, and based on established evaluation routines within the programme.
