At least the Pass grade in all courses from semester 1 and 2 in the Study Programme in Dental Hygiene

On completion of the course, the student should: - be able to reflect on what is health and what is unhealth - be able to account for the relationships between health and well-being - be able to reflect on the relationships health - oral health, life style and environment - be able to explain the relationships between the use of tobacco and general health - be able to identify opportunities (fields), where dental hygienists can work with health promotion and preventive work - be able to account for theoretical principles of classification of periodontal diseases - be able to account for various types of conversation theories intended for talks with patients - have knowledge of endodontic treatment principles - be able to account for the stress concept, and how the individual is influenced by stress

The course provides knowledge in the main field of study Dental prophylaxis with specific emphasis on the relations between oral health/disease, life style and public health science.

The tuition forms during the course are lectures and seminars. Current research is discussed at lectures and seminars. The course comprises full-time studies.

Compulsory attendance and active participation at seminars. In case of absence, assignments that compensate the absence are provided. The assessment of the students' achievements and knowledge acquisition takes place through a written final examination.

Students who are not approved after the regular examination are entitled to two more examinations. If the student is not approved after three examinations, he/she is recommended to retake the course at the next regular course date, before three more examinations are offered. If the student has failed six examinations, no additional examination or new admission to the current course is given. Other Course evaluation will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines established by the Board of Education.
