Specific entry requirements
For admission to semester 2, at least 22.5 credits from semester 1 are required.
Objectives
At the end of the course, you are expected to:
In practice, be able to carry out a scientific project and search in databases and refer to scientific studies and relevant literature. Be able to apply scientific and statistical methods at a general level.
Orally and in writing be able to account for a scientific project. In detail explain and understand various terms in solid mechanics for specific dental materials. At a general level assess and suggest different alternatives of dental materials in the development of orthodontic constructions. Be oriented about work-related safety precautions regulating dental materials with regard to toxic and biological effects and their impact on the environment.
Content
- Acrylic, composite and dental ceramics, casting metals and investment materials.
- Scientific methods and statistical processing with application in practical projects.
- General toxicology, and professional hygiene
- The regulatory framework around the production of orthodontic works, quality assurance and environment. Traceability, complaints and requirements of suppliers.
Teaching methods
The knowledge is provided in lectures, seminars, demonstrations, supervision, practical exercises and written assignments with an oral presentation.
Attendance is compulsory to the extent stated by the course provider.
Examination
Passed written and oral presentations. Passed compulsory practical exercises and written final examination.
Students who have not passed the regular examination/assessment session are entitled to two more tests. If the student is not approved after three examinations, he/she is recommended to retake the course at the next regular opportunity before three more examination opportunities are given. If the student has failed six examinations/tests, he/she is given no additional examination or new admission to the course (HF, chapter 7, section 9).
