Specific entry requirements
For admission to semester 2, at least 22.5 credits from semester 1 are required.
Objectives
At the end of the course, you are expected to: Have knowledge of occlusal development and malocclusions. Be oriented about fixed and removable equipment within orthodontic treatment Have knowledge of orthodontic treatment and laboratory production.
Content
- General information and historical account. - Ideal bite and malocclusion, morphological deviations - From postnatal occlusal development to the permanent occlusion period. - Orthodontic apparatus, and tissue reactions of treatment. - Demonstrations of the practical parts of the course . - Study visits at Orthodontic Laboratory. - Clinical auscultation. - Written final examination
Teaching methods
The knowledge is provided in lectures, demonstrations and individual practical exercises. Auscultations and study visits.
Examination
Assessment of the students' achievements and knowledge acquisition takes place through approved individually produced application exercises, and written final examination. Requirement that all tasks are completed and approved, and requirement on attendance at demonstrations and attendance in classes as observers. In case of absence in a regular demonstration session, the student should submit a written report on the contents and message of the demonstration. In case of absence in a regular auscultation - study visit session the student should participate in a make-up session for a Pass grade. Limited number of examinations or practical training sessions If the student's examination is not approved, she gets two more opportunities. After that, the student is recommended to re-take the course and is offered three more examinations. If the student is not approved after 6 attempts, he/she has no more admission to the course. (HF chapter 6 section 11 a).
Transitional provisions
If the course is closed down or undergoes major changes, examination under a previous literature list and learning outcomes will be offered no more than one academic year after the implementation of the revision/close-down.
