Specific entry requirements

Objectives

On completion of the course, the student should:
- recognise and problematise the most used forms of complementary, alternative and integrative medicine (KAIM)
- be able to relate, in an initiated and objective manner, to various medical systems and models of integrative medicine in discussions,
- be able to account for and problematise central concepts in the area and
- formulate ideas, issues and options for research and/or development actions in the area.

Content

The course will treat the following:
- Commonly occurring national and international KAIM methods and systems.
- The meeting between different medical systems, concepts and models of cooperation.
- Central concepts such as health, disease, patient security, quality assurance, self-treatment, prevention, care quality, care provider and patient communication, cost efficiency and health policy.
- Research, evaluation and development projects within KAIM.

Teaching methods

The teaching is given through web-based lectures, group assignments and discussions. The course has one compulsory meeting.

Examination

Examination takes place through compulsory discussions using the web-based platform PingPong, written assignments and a web-based group assignment.

Transitional provisions

The course has been cancelled and was offered for the last time in the spring semester of 2013. Examination will be provided until the fall of 2018 for students who have not completed the course. 

Other directives

Course evaluation will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines established by the Board of Education.

Single parts of the course will be given in English.
