Objectives

The aim of the course is to provide knowledge and skills to independently be able to apply and integrate specific nursing with medical care and treatment. From ethical, cultural, gender and pedagogical aspects the student should develop towards a professional approach in ambulance care. On completion of the course, the student should have developed her ability to independently be able to assess the patient on the basis of a structured treatment. identify, discuss and analyse the emergence of acute medical diseases and symptoms and treatment based on an individual-centered specific nursing. identify, discuss and analyse risks and complications that can arise related to the individual's conditions and the specific environment. identify, analyse and assess nursing needs on the basis of complex issues within psychiatry. discuss and analyse the treatment of patients and their family with an ethical and multicultural attitude demonstrating an enhanced ability to empathy in the caring meeting, discuss and evaluate current research and evidence-based nursing and assess the relation between science and proven experience in specific nursing and medical science within ambulance care.

Content

- urgent medical diseases, medical treatment and nursing - the acute medical and surgical diseases, treatment, nursing and specific pharmacology of the child. - the specific nursing needs of the elderly, multi-morbidity and polypharmacy. - treatment and assessment of individuals with mental unhealth. - communication and treatment based on an individual-centered perspective. - specific, environmental aspects and threat and violence situations in the ambulance care. - Evaluate, report and document medical treatment and specific nursing. - current scientific articles within ambulance care - A-HLR

Teaching methods

The distance education is IT based. Different working methods such as individual study assignments, work in groups, discussions and lectures are used. The number of physical meetings are at most 5 days/7.5 credits excluding introduction and examination. The course starts with a scheduled introduction and with group discussions in the computer platform PingPong. The working method aims to train a scientific approach through active knowledge acquisition, problem-solving, critical analysis and reflection, and training the ability of oral and written presentation.

Examination

Assessment of the students' ability to communicate and draw conclusions takes place continuously during the course. This course is examined according to the following Written take-home exam Compulsory participation in the course: Seminars and participation in the compulsory parts that contribute to the achievement of the learning outcomes of the course. - participation in PingPong discussions - Individual work and group assignments For the Pass grade, compulsory parts and the examination should be graded with, at least, the Pass grade. For a grade Pass with distinction, compulsory parts should be graded with the Pass grade and the examination graded with a Pass with distinction. In case of absence, it is up to the student to discuss consequences of the absence with the course coordinator.. Limited number of examinations or practical training sessions A student without an approved result after three examinations can be offered to take the course once more. However, there are at most six examination opportunities for each course. Examination times are announced at the beginning of the course.
