Specific entry requirements
Objectives
The aim of the course is to advance knowledge and skills, and integrate specific nursing with medical care and treatment in anesthetic care. On the basis of ethical, cultural and pedagogical aspects be able to take a position and continue to develop a professional approach in the perioperative nursing environment. Be able to reflect and discuss the relationship between science, evidence-based nursing, and best practices. On completion of the course, the student should independently be able to - identify and assess, and analyse individual needs of anaesthesiological nursing on the basis of preoperative talk, and medical record and documentation - initiate, apply and evaluate adequate surveillance, anaesthesiological nursing and medically indicated measures for patients nursed within anesthetic care, risk assessed ASA I-II. - apply and analyse individually adjusted anaesthesiological nursing on the basis of science and proven experience with an ethical attitude - evaluate and analyse the anaesthesiological nursing through post-operative talks and nursing - document and report the perioperative process - apply and reflect on current laws, regulations, and local routines and guidelines

Hygiene and aseptic Risk assessment and preventive measures Communication with and treatment of patients, and family, in connection with anaesthesia Surveillance, anaesthesiological nursing and medically indicated measures for patients nursed within anesthetic care, risk assessed ASA I-II Ventilation methods in connection with anesthetic care Anaesthesia in vascular surgery Documentation and reporting of the perioperative process Organisational Theory and Management within anesthetic care Laws and regulations
Teaching methods
The course is both campus and web-based (distance) The working method aims to train a scientific approach through active knowledge acquisition, problem-solving, critical analysis and reflection, and training the ability of oral and written presentation. The following course parts are included: Scheduled course introduction, placement, cohort groups, and group discussions in the computer platform PingPong, seminars, lectures, clinic-based practical overviews and simulation exercises. The distance education is IT-based and is characterised by independent and collaborative learning. The number of physical meetings are at least 2 days/7.5 credits excluding introduction and examination.
Examination
Individual written and oral examination Placement (VFU) according to evaluation forms Compulsory parts to pass: - study assignments/group discussions via the computer platform PingPong - group discussions (cohort groups) - Proficiency training - Seminars - Clinical education For a Pass grade, all subparts should be graded with a Pass, at least. For a Pass with distinction, all subparts should be graded with the grade Pass with distinction. In case of absence, it is up to the student to discuss consequences of the absence with the course coordinator..
Other directives
A student without an approved result after three examinations can be offered to take the course once more. However, there are at most six examination opportunities for each course. Examination times are announced at the beginning of the course. During the placement, a continuous assessment of the students' achievements takes place. Half-time and final assessment should be conducted. Professional supervisors provide a basis for assessment according to the evaluation forms. For students at the risk of failure, a written plan should be set up, at the latest at the mid-way assessment, by the course coordinator together with a professional supervisor. The student should have satisfied the requirements of the component parts in order to get a Pass grade in the entire course. Grades are assigned by examiner. Failed placement may be re-done once
