Objectives

Knowledge and understanding

On completion of the course, the student should

- show in depth knowledge and understanding in sexual, reproductive and perinatal health,

- show in-depth knowledge of research ethics and sustainability aspects
- show in depth knowledge in methods for data collection and analysis with relevance for the own degree project.

Skills and abilities
On completion of the course, the student should

  • show ability to systematically be able to search, review critically and interpret information as a basis for the degree project,
  • show ability to independently identify reflect over, analyse and formulate problems,
  •  choose and argue for choice of design and research method,
  • plan, carry out and present a scientific work within given time frames and according to formalities,
  • discuss and argue for the results of own and others' degree projects from scientific, topic-specific and clinical relevance and reflect on the importance of these results for the society.

Judgement and approach

On completion of the course, the student should

  • show ability to apply research-ethical principles and guidelines and evaluate research-ethical aspects,
  • identify and evaluate personal and professional knowledge - and continuing professional development.

A scientific and professional approach is applied througout the entire course.

Content

The course consists of planning and carrying out a degree project within the main subject; systematic search and evaluation of scientific articles; methodological and research-ethical discussions; oral and written presentation and critical review of the work of others.

Teaching methods

The teaching is based on a problem-oriented and collaborative view on the learning where the student takes responsibility for her/his learning actively. The working methods used are lectures, seminars and individual supervision or supervision in groups.

Examination

Examination is done by presentation and defence of the own degree project and critical review on the degree project of fellow student.

Each time the student submitts the thesis to the examiner for assessment counts as an examination. If the student has failed six examinations, no additional examination will be provided.

Other directives

Course evaluation will be carried out according to the guidelines established by the Board of Education.
