Specific entry requirements
For admission to semester 3, it is required that the student does not lack more than 15 credits from preceding semesters within the Study Programme in Speech and Language Pathology
Objectives
On completion of the course, the student will have shown his/her ability to:
- at a general level describe the understanding process from different theoretical perspectives
- at a general level describe the language development from a neurolinguistic perspective
- describe how language is represented at neuronal level
- at a general level account for how language in the brain has been studied
Content
The course mainly focusses on language functions and their neurological correlates. Subject areas that are brought up are, among others, psycholinguistic models of language processing of both spoken and written language, early language development and multilingual and cross-lingual aspects of language processing.

Examination
The examination consists of a written examination
The written examination is corrected anonymously (using an identification number for each student). Students who do not pass the written examination are entitled to re-sit the examination on five more occasions, the first of which within fourteen days after the notification of the result of the exam. The third re-examination is the following regular examination session in the course. Each occasion the student participates in the same test counts as an examination. Submission of a blank exam paper is regarded as an examination. In case a student is registered for an examination but does not attend, this is not regarded as an examination.
Transitional provisions
Examination may take place under the previous reading list during a period of one and a half years after the date of the renewal of the reading list. Examination will be provided during a period of three years after a close-down of the course.
Other directives
The entire course is given by the Department of Linguistics at Stockholm University.
The course evaluation will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines established by the Board of Education. The course evaluation of each module will mainly be web-based.
