Specific entry requirements

- Master of Science in Psychology (under the 1982 study regulation or later regulations), or - Master of Science in Medicine with a specialisation in psychiatry or child and adolescent psychiatry, or - Bachelor of Science in Social Work or - another equivalent degree (Bachelor degree/professional qualification) of at least 180 credits Furthermore, for the two latter groups, basic education in psychotherapy or the equivalent is required. The applicant should have been working during at least two years after the basic psychotherapy education, and during these two years he/she should have worked with psychotherapy under supervision of a certified psychotherapist with the specialisation in question. The applicant should have a certificate from the employer to certify that he/she will, during the education, work part-time in psychiatric care, or the equivalent. - For the psychodynamic specialisation, the applicant should have completed 75 hours in psychodynamic self-therapy with a licensed psychoterapeut, in addition to the 50 hours that are included in basic psychotherapy education.

Content

The student carries out, under supervision, but with independent responsibility, a research task within some area that has relevance to psychotherapeutic practice and/or clinical psychology. The course is divided into five parts with one part per semester the first four semesters and one part in semesters 5 and 6. Subpart 1: Presentation of degree projects in psychotherapy and available ongoing research at KI and SLL, equivalent to 27 h Subpart 2: Seminars on research ideas, equivalent to 27 h Subpart 3: Seminars on project outlines and the handicraft of writing, equivalent to 27 h Subpart 4: Seminars around a work plan and the start of a degree project, equivalent to 27 h Subpart 5: Implementation of a degree project, equivalent to 290 h

Teaching methods

The teaching is given in the form of seminars and supervision in groups or individually for the degree project. In consultation with the student, the supervisor and the examiner, a written plan for the work is established.

Examination

After the implemented study, the student is examined in an examination seminar. The examination includes both the written report and the oral defence. A failed degree project can after revision be submitted for a new assessment no more than five times. Part 2-4 should be presented in writing and be approved. All the teaching is compulsory. In case of absence of no more than 20%, the student should be given a complementary assignment for the lecture that the student has been absent from. At an absence of more than 20% during the course, it can not be approved. Students who have not achieved a Pass grade due to too high absence will have an opportunity to make up for this part in the next course.

Transitional provisions

Examination will be provided during one year after a close-down of the course or a new syllabus.
