Specific entry requirements
Passing the courses at year one is a prerequisite for participation in this course.
Objectives
The aim of the course is to give advanced knowledge on the evaluation and assessment of scientific papers, search for relevant information and literature, and scientific writing.
On completion of the course, the student is expected to:
Knowledge and understanding
- Be able to account for systems applicable in meta-analyses and qualitative reviews for evaluation of evidence grade and quality of research papers
Skills and abilities
- Be proficient in searching for information and scientific evidence, and to critically evaluate the quality of studies
- Be proficient in formulating clear research aims for a planned research project based on present evidence
- Be able to compose a project plan for a scientific project which is possible to conduct within the limits of 15 credits
Values and attitudes
- Reflect on ethical aspects of choices of research aims, study design and method
Content
The course comprises: 1) critical assessment of established evaluation principles and applicating these on scientific papers, 2) assessment of evidence of psychotherapy research within an area of interest, and 3) decision on whether there is a lack of knowledge in this area, which is possible to target within a project comprising 15 credits.
Teaching methods
Teaching takes place in the form of workshops and recorded lectures.
Examination
The students will present a written project plan at a seminar. Active participation on the seminar is required. The project plan should be handed in 1 week before the seminar in order to be presented.
Transitional provisions
An examination will be made available for a period of one year in the event of the course being discontinued or a new course syllabus being introduced.

Course evaluation will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines established by the Board of Education.
