Specific entry requirements
Occupational therapist - or physiotherapy degree of 180 HE credits or Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy or physiotherapy.
English and Swedish language skills equivalent to English A/English 6 and Swedish B/Swedish 3 at Swedish upper secondary school are also required.
Objectives
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- Contrast and practically apply methods for measurement of physical and psychosocial exposure in different working environments.
- Carry out ergonomic risk assessments and from these suggest and explain ergonomic action proposals.
- Critically review risk assessments and action proposals in relation to scientific literature and relevant working environment legislation.
- Analyse possibilities and impediments at implementation of ergonomic measures.
Content
The course includes theory and practice about measurement strategies and methods (e g technical measuring instruments, observation techniques, questionnaires and interview) to measure physical and psychosocial exposure on the work. Further, ergonomic analysis and risk assessment on both individual and organisational levels are included, with specialisation within physical ergonomics and planning and implementation of ergonomic measures. The course also treats preventive strategies and measures concerning problems in the locomotive organs at psychosocial exposure.
Teaching methods
The teaching consists of a combination of distance education and scheduled campus time. The tuition forms at the campus teaching include lectures, seminars and group assignments. The distance education includes literature studies, group assignments, report writing, interview surveys etc
At the campus teaching can occur compulsory attendance at certain teaching parts.
Examination
Examination takes place through individual, written take-home examination, and a written individual written assignment with oral presentation in seminars. The examination of the written assignment is assessed from both written contents and oral presentation.
The grading system is Failed/Passed/Passed with distinction.
Compulsory attendance A passing grade requires attendance at compulsory lectures. The course leader decides if and how absence from training should be compensated. Before student has participated in compulsory lectures or compensated absence in accordance with the course director's instructions be reported not the student's course results in LADOK.
Limited number of examinations The student has the right to participate in six examination sessions. If the student is not passed after four examination sessions, he or she is urged to visit the study adviser. Participation in an examination is defined as an occasion on which a student attends an examination. The submission of a blank examination paper is counted as an examination. An examination for which the student registered but not participated in, will not be regarded as an examination.
Transitional provisions
Examination will be provided during a time of two years after a possible close-down of the course. Examination can take place according to an earlier literature list during a time of one year after the date when a renewal of the literature list has been made.
Other directives
Course evaluation will be carried out according to the guidelines that are established by the Board for education and based on evaluation routines within the Master's programme (one-year) in work and health.
