Specific entry requirements

A Bachelor degree or professional qualification of at least 180 credits or the equivalent degree within health care.

Objectives

On completion of the course, the student should :
- Understand the structure of computer systems
- Be able to structure care-related knowledge from an information theoretical perspective

Content

The aim of the course is for the student to acquire the knowledge and skills within general computer science and basic programming required to structure care-related knowledge and design appropriate user interfaces for specific health care situations.

The course deals with information theory, probability theory, the structure of computer systems, basic programming and information management/information retrieval, man-machine interaction

Teaching methods

Through lectures, literature surveys, seminars and group assignments, the student should be given the possibility to acquire many aspects of the course. The theoretical parts are provided largely via Internet, by means of lectures, references, self-evaluation questions, project work and assignments. Course meetings with lectures, method exercises and seminars are planned to 1 day a month.

Examination

The course examination consists of self tests and written assignments.

Compulsory participation: Participation in seminars/course meetings. In case of absence, an agreement concerning supplementation is made between the student and the responsible teacher .

Transitional provisions

The course has been cancelled and was offered for the last time in the fall semester of 2007. Examination will be provided until the fall of 2017 for students who have not completed the course.

Other directives

Course evaluation will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines established by the Board of Education.
