Admission requirements for program and passed course Market analysis (4BP018).

After the course, the participants should:

- Be able to describe connections and differences between theory and practice, and how these connections and differences can be dealt with in practical work
- Understand engineering consultant's view on their role, and how this practical knowledge is related to their theoretical knowledge.
- Have the ability to use different methods with the aim to reach practical as well as theoretical results
- Understand how different situations in the role as a management consultant can lead to different results, depending on the way the effort is performed
- Be able to discuss and understand the work of a engineering consultant from different perspectives
- Be able to reflect on their own experiences and theoretical knowledge

The course deals with the interaction between theoretical knowledge and some of the aspects of knowledge that will meet the students in their employments in the future. It prepares for the transmission from theoretical studies to an action-oriented working life, and gives an orientation in different dilemmas and possibilities inherent in different roles as an engineering consultant. With the means of tasks (both oral and written) at seminars, the course will also prepare for the thesis work to follow.

The course also provides input from professional engineering consultants and recent case studies. It is often assumed that a single model of knowledge will cover the range of different fields of study. Working life practice in engineering companies highlights the deficiencies in this view. This course also explores different approaches to knowledge brought into the course by invited speakers. Reflections will take place in a structured seminar form based upon written contributions.

The examination consists on written reports.

Compulsory participation
Attendance at seminars are mandatory. The course director assesses if and, in that case, how absence can be compensated. Before the student has participated in all compulsory parts or compensated absence in accordance with the course director's instructions, the student's result will not be registered in LADOK.

Limited number of examinations or practical training sessions
Students who have not passed the regular examination are entitled to participate in five more examinations. If the student is not approved after four examinations, he/she is recommended to retake the course at the next regular course date, and may, after that, participate in two more examinations. If the student has failed six examinations/tests, no additional examination or new admission is provided.

The number of times that the student has participated in one and the same examination is regarded as an examination session. Submission of a blank examination is regarded as an examination. An examination for which the student registered but not participated in, will not be counted as an examination.

The course has been cancelled HT18 and was offered for the last time in the spring semester of 2014.

Course evaluation will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines established by the Board of Education.
