Practical Placement 1, 9 credits

At least the grade Pass at the courses "Industrial management" and “Entrepreneurship in the life sciences” within the Master's programme in bioentrepreneurship.

The overall aim of the course is that the student should deepen his or her understanding of the life science industry through an applied project.
 
Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to, in a practical setting:

• plan and carry out and present a project that requires knowledge and skills within a relevant field for the education,
• be able to analyse and evaluate other's project work and be able to present and discuss their own work,
• be able to carry out a project work in a research- and corporate ethical manner
• have the ability to reflect over personal experiences such as own responsibility and cooperation as well as the individual contribution to the project

The course consists of a practical placement in cooperation with companies or organisations in the field of life science. The project aims to illustrate or resolve specific issues that the collaborative partner provides.

The course is given at the master's level, where the students are assumed to be familiar with the most common study methods in higher education. The fundamental pedagogical view is based on entrepreneurial learning and requires an active student participation. Teaching will be in the form of a placement project with a project assignment that takes place in collaboration with companies / organisations. The project takes place in groups. The course includes lectures and interactive seminars as well as written and oral assignments.

The examination consists of:

• an individual reflection
• a written project report
• an oral presentation of the project as well as
• a critical review of another project should be performed.

All  these parts are graded Fail/Pass. 
 
To obtain the grade Pass in the whole course, it is required that all subparts receive the grade Pass. 
 
Compulsory participation
Participation in the seminar, presentations and oppositions are compulsory. The course director decides if and in that case how absence may be compensated. Before the student has participated in compulsory parts, or compensated absence in accordance with the course director 's instructions the student's results on respective part will not be registered in LADOK.
 
Students who have not passed the regular project placement and the project report have the right to revise and submit the report on five more occasions. If the student has failed six submitted versions of the project report, no additional examination or new admission will be allowed. A submission is counted as each time the student has submitted a revised version of the report to the teacher.
 
Project placement
The examiner may immediately suspend a student's project placement or equivalent if the student demonstrates serious deficiencies in knowledge, skills or attitudes in a way that trust with the partner may be damaged.
 
When the project placement is interrupted in this way, the student will fail the current course element and one project placement opportunity is consumed. In such cases, an individual action plan will be formulated by the course leader, setting out what activities and knowledge tests that are required for the student to be able to pass the course.

After each course occasion there will be at least six occasions for the examination within a two-year period from the end of the course.

The course language is English.

A course evaluation will be conducted according to guidelines decided by the Board of Higher Education.

Oral evaluation in the form of course council meetings will be carried out during the course.
