Specific entry requirements
At least the grade Pass for the courses "Theory in Bioentrepreneurship", "Communication in Bioentrepreneurship 1" and "Market Analysis" within the Master's Programme in Bioentrepreneurship.
Objectives
The overall aim of the course is for the student to deepen their understanding of the life science industry through an applied project.
Upon completion of the course the student should be able to, in a practical setting:
Regarding knowledge and understanding
- Recognize and apply theoretical knowledge and methodologies to a project within the field of bioentrepreneurship.
Regarding skills and abilities
- Plan, carry out and present a project that requires knowledge and skills within bioentrepreneurship,
- Present and discuss their own work in a structured and clear manner,
- Analyse as well as provide constructive and critical feedback on other students work.
Regarding judgement and approach
- Reflect over personal experiences such as own responsibility and cooperation as well as the individual contribution to the project,
- Carry out project work in a research- and corporate- ethical manner.
Content
The course consists of a practical placement in cooperation with companies or organisations in the field of life science. The project aims to illustrate or resolve specific issues that the collaborative partner provides.
Practical work, 7.0 hp
This component consists of the practical work in a project that is perfomed in cooperation with companies or organisations in the field of life science. The project aims to illustrate or resolve specific issues that the collaborative partner provides.
Integration of theory and practice, 2.0 hp
This component aims to intergrate relevant throretical knowledge from the programme with the practical part of the project in the course.
Teaching methods
The course is mainly focused on a project assignment that takes place in collaboration with companies/organisations. The project is generally conducted in groups of 2-3 students. The course includes discussion sessions as well as written and oral assignments. The course is given at the master's level, where the students are assumed to be familiar with the most common study methods in higher education. The fundamental pedagogical view is based on entrepreneurial learning and requires active student participation.
Examination
The examination for component 1, "Practical work", consists of:
- a written report,
- an oral presentation of the project as well as,
- a critical review of another project.
The examination for component 2, "Integration of theory and practice", consists of:
- an individual assignment.
All these parts are graded Fail/Pass. To obtain the grade Pass on the whole course, all examinations in both components need to receive the grade Pass.
Compulsory participation
Participation in the seminar, presentations and oppositions are compulsory. The examiner assesses if, and in that case, how, absence from compulsory parts can be compensated. Before the student has participated in all compulsory parts or compensated absence in accordance with the examiner's instructions, the student's results for the respective part will not be registered. Absence from a compulsory activity may result in that the student cannot compensate for the absence until the next time the course is given.
Limitation of the number of project report submissions
Students who have not passed the regular project placement and the project report have the right to revise and submit the report on five more occasions. A student has not passed the project report after four occasions, is encouraged to visit the study advisor. If the student has failed six submitted versions of the project report, no additional examination or new admission will be allowed. A submission is counted as each time the student has submitted a revised version of the report to the grading teacher.
Project placement
The examiner may immediately suspend a student's project placement or equivalent if the student demonstrates serious deficiencies in knowledge, skills or attitudes in a way that trust with the partner may be damaged.
When the project placement is interrupted in this way, the student will fail the current course element and one project placement opportunity is consumed. In such cases, an individual action plan will be formulated by the course leader, setting out what activities and knowledge tests are required for the student to be able to pass the course.
If there are special grounds or a need for adaptation for a student with a disability, the examiner may decide to deviate from the syllabus's regulations on the examination form, the number of examination opportunities, the possibility of supplementation or exemptions from the compulsory section/s of the course etc. Content and learning outcomes, as well as the level of expected skills, knowledge and abilities, may not be changed, removed or reduced.
