Specific entry requirements
Passed all courses from semester 1 and at least 10 credits from courses in term 2 at the Master's programme in health informatics.
Objectives
The course will introduce and give training in issues regarding scholarly communication and research methodology.
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

• Apply scientific research methods
• Assess quality of scientific literature

• Find and compile scientific literature
• Discuss and explain differences between different research methods
• Find relevant literature
• Write a report based on a coherent argument

• Analyse, set as contrast, compare and review scientific literature
• Discuss own view in relation to the published research
Content
The course includes:
• To find research discipline, research problem and specific research questions
• To find conflicting scientific literature
• Discuss and structure around an argument in different levels
• Presentation techniques
• Quote, refer and paraphrase
• Data types, collect data, data analysis
• Quantitative methods and analyses
• Qualitative methods and analyses
