Emily - Master’s in Global Health

Hi, I’m Emily! I’m from the UK, the USA and Malaysia, and I’m studying the Master’s Programme in Global Health this year. I’m a medical student back in the UK, so I have had some exposure to global and public health through this, but I wanted to spend more time studying the social, economic, and cultural factors that influence health, not only because I find it interesting, but also because they have such a big impact on our health outcomes and aren’t considered enough in the current biomedical model of medicine.

I chose KI because of its globally renowned reputation, the opportunity to complete a master’s programme in one year, and the chance to live in beautiful Stockholm! In the future, I hope to complete my training to work as a clinician either in emergency medicine or women’s health, as well as in health policy development and implementation.

In my free time, some things I love include sports, thrift shopping, hiking and the outdoors, and trying out new cafés (all of which I have heard Stockholm is perfect for!). I’m excited to travel around Scandinavia this year, start some new sports, and explore the shops and cafés in Södermalm.
