Grading Scales at Karolinska Institutet

At Karolinska Institutet there are three types of grading scales, depending on which course you are registered.

All grading scales are criterion-referenced. Please check the course syllabus in order to see which grading scale is used on your course. Please note that a re-sit in order to raise a passing grade is not permitted.

G/U (Pass/Fail)

This is the most common used grading scale used at regular courses at Karolinska Institutet

VG/G/U (Pass with distinction/Pass/Fail)

Some courses use this grading scale

A-F (definitions below)

Clinical rotations and some courses at the global programmes use the grading scale A-F. The following definitions apply for the A-F grading scale:
