Sakura chose Karolinska Institutet for her studies, because she was interested in living in Sweden, and KI is the best medical university in this country. She also looked up a world academic ranking in Public Health, and KI was the sixth best.

While at KI, Sakura is very excited to meet new people and get to know them. She is keen to make lifetime friends! However, learning Epidemiology and research about population health remains her priority. She looks forward to exploring Sweden, and one of her dreams is to see the northern lights.

While Sakura is not sure what her life will be like in 10 years, her plan is to live outside of Japan. She has not yet decided where in the world, but flexibility is one of the main reasons why she wanted to pursue a master’s degree taught in English. She hopes this will enable her to work all over the world.

Sakura loves watching motorsports, especially Formula1. Before moving to Sweden, she had to stay up late to watch the races because of the time difference between Japan and European countries where the races were held. Finally, she can watch the races in almost the same time zone!
