Degree project and project course abroad on your own
As a student at Karolinska Institutet, you can apply for an Erasmus+ internship scholarship to conduct your thesis work or project course at a company, organization, or another educational institution in an EU/EES/partner country as part of your education at KI.
If you, on your own initiative and with the approval of the course leader at KI, choose to undertake a project or thesis work abroad and are still registered for the current course at KI, you may be covered by the group insurance that KI has signed with Kammarkollegiet. This is provided that a written agreement of acceptance (Letter of Invitation) exists between KI and the receiving institution or facility, and not between you as an individual student and the receiving institution or facility.
Discuss this with your course leader before you go. You will also have the opportunity to apply for a KI scholarship.
If you go abroad within the EU and stay for at least 60 consecutive days, you may be eligible for an Erasmus+ grant.
Please note that all paperwork for studying abroad on your own must be completed (including any necessary visas) at least 4 weeks before the end of the term.
