How the mentorship programme works
In the KI mentorship programme, you are matched with an alumnus/alumna — a former KI student who has at least three years of professional or research experience.
Four meetings over seven months
The programme runs for seven months, from October to April. During this period, you are expected to meet your mentor on at least four occasions. The format is flexible and determined together with your mentor. Meetings can take place digitally, on campus, or elsewhere.
Kick-off event in October
The programme begins with a welcome dinner in October 8, where you will meet your mentor for the first time in a relaxed setting. During the event, you will also receive an introduction to mentorship and dialogue methods. This provides a safe and supportive starting point for your mentorship. Programme coordinators are available throughout the programme if you need guidance.
Closing event in April
The programme concludes with a joint closing event in April.
Digital certificate
After completing the programme, you will receive a digital certificate of participation, which can be shared on platforms such as LinkedIn.
Application
To apply, you must have completed at least one semester in a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at KI. You are also expected to:
- Attend the welcome dinner in October 8
- Meet your mentor at least four times
- Be prepared, active, and engaged throughout the programme
Matching is based on the information provided by both mentees and mentors in their applications. As the number of mentors is limited, a match cannot be guaranteed for all applicants. You will be notified whether you have been matched with a mentor in late August or early September.

Questions and answers
The mentorship is based on dialogue, reflection, and the exchange of experiences. The mentor acts as a discussion partner, role model, and source of experience, supporting your own reflections.
The mentor is not:
- A therapist
- A study advisor
- A teacher or examiner
- Responsible for your study or career decisions
No. The programme is intended for students who wish to gain a clearer picture of possible career paths and reflect on their future together with someone who has experience from working life.
You are expected to meet your mentor at least four times over seven months, in addition to the introductory and closing events. You and your mentor decide on the format and scheduling of your meetings.
The programme begins with an introductory meeting where you and your mentor receive shared guidance, clear expectations, and a framework for how to work together.
Throughout the programme, coordinators are also available if you would like to discuss something or receive guidance.
A total of 20 mentor pairs will be matched during the 2026–2027 programme period.
