Syllabus

Welcome to the course!

This 5 weeks course starts on Thursday, September 19 and ends on Thursday, October 24, 2024.

Registration

To take part in the course it is required that you register for the course online in Ladok. Registration is possible from September 12 until September 21. Find out more about online registration here

Content

This course is divided into the following parts:

Biostatistics, 2.5 hp
Advanced statistical methods for the analysis of repeated observations, nonlinear dose-response curve estimation, survival data, outcome transformations, and missing data.


Risk Assessment and In Silico Toxicology, 6 hp
Recent advances within research and development in health risk assessment and toxicology. Methods for the assessment of reliability of studies in the area of toxicological research.

Teaching will be in the form of lectures, seminars, assignments, journal clubs, workshops and computer exercises

Examination and compulsory participation

Biostatistics (2.5 credits). The examination consists of a written examination. Graded Fail/Pass.
 
Risk assessment and in silico toxicology (6 credits). The examination consists of oral and/or written assignments. Graded Fail/Pass.
 
For the grade Pass in the course a Pass is required for both parts.

Compulsory participation:
Attendance at the seminars, journal clubs and workshops.  The examiner assesses if, and in that case how, absence can be compensated. Before the student has participated in all compulsory parts or compensated absence in accordance with the examiner's instructions, the student's results for respective part will not be registered. Absence from a compulsory activity may result in that the student cannot compensate the absence until the next time the course is given.

Course evaluation 

Course evaluation will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines established by the Board of Education. Course council meeting is held with the course coordinator and student representatives.
