Specific entry requirements

For admission to the course, it is required that the student has managed at least 105 HE credits from Semester 1-4. Furthermore, a pass mark is required in the course Hearing rehabilitation 1.

Objectives

The general the aim of the course is to provide the student with a deeper theoretical knowledge in audiology.

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- demonstrate theoretical knowledge within a specific audiological subject area and relate this to central theorisings within audiology
- independently be able to design a plan to acquire, review critically and synthesise available knowledge and evidence within clinical audiological activities
- present a report and communicate it both orally and in written form.

Content

The elective course in theoretical advanced study will give the student the possibility to specialize within a specific field connected to the clinical handling activities within diagnostics and rehabilitation. Examples on advanced study can be tinnitus habilitation, audial pedagogy in clinical activities or advanced study in ABR (Auditory Brainstem Response). The course is carried out independently and contains independent theoretical studies.

Teaching methods

The working methods consist of self-studies. On the unit there will be an authorised audiologist with Master's degree or the equivalent. The student and supervisors together make up a plan for the implementation of the course. The course is completed with an examination seminar.

Examination

An individually written report which is presented orally at an examination seminar.

For a Pass grade in the course, attendance and active participation in compulsory parts are also required. For students who have not passed the regular examination, possibility for re-examination is offered at a total of six examinations, of which the three last in connection to the next occasion when the course is given. As examination, the times are counted the student participated in the same test. Supplementary qualification of written assignment is counted as an examination.

Transitional provisions

Examination can take place according to earlier literature list during a time of a year after the date then a renewal of the literature list been made. Examination will be provided during a time of two years after a possible close-down of the course.

Other directives

Evaluation template containing assessment criteria for examination will be provided. Course evaluation will be carried out according to the guidelines that are established by the Board of education. Course evaluation is carried out both through a written course evaluation at the end of the course and and through oral course forum at least once in connection with the course under which the students can in front of his opinions.
