Objectives
After the course, the student should

Content
During the course, the interplay between abnormal morphology and abnormal function at various levels will be highlighted. The course will thus increase the understanding of how diseases affect different organ functions, how this gives rise to symptoms and other clinical findings, how medical and surgical treatment methods attempt to restore normal organ function. This knowledge gives a rational background to preventive measures, diagnostics and treatment.
Teaching methods
The course comprises whole-group lectures, as well as case seminars and autopsy demonstration.
The lecture section starts with a section General pathology in which cell lesions, general tumour theory, circulatory disorders and inflammation are treated. The rest of the course comprises organ-specific pathology and constitutes the application of general pathology to different organs and their diseases.
Examination
The course is examined in the following way:
a) written examination, graded Fail/Pass/Pass with distinction
b) attendance at compulsory lectures/ presentations according to schedule
