Specific entry requirements

To be qualified to a higher semester, it is required that the student has taken at least 15 credits from last semester, and all higher education credits from previous semesters.

Objectives

On completion of the course, the student should be able to: • describe theoretical background and methods for change management. • apply Nolan's improvement guide in the radiological activities, with the patient in focus • reflect on one's own attitudes and values

Content

In the main part of the course, change management within healthcare are studied. The student is trained to apply models for improvement work. The student's attention is also directed to thoughts and feelings that may arise in interaction with patients and how these can be handled. The general aim of the course is to give the student tools for the evidence -based improvement in the work specific field. The development refers to the activities within radiology and the staff development, by sensitise and discuss attitudes and values with patient situations, as a basis. During the course, change management through risk reporting system and through exercises based on Nolan's improvement guide.

Teaching methods

The course is carried out in the form of lectures, seminars and study assignments.

Examination

The course is examined through study assignments. There are compulsory parts in the course. In consultation with the examiner of the course, the student may get a complementary assignment in case of absence from a compulsory part. The student has the right to a total of six test to pass. In connection to the course three occasions will be given One within the course, two during the following re-examinations. In certain cases, it is required that the student submits an exemption application before he/she get the results of his/her latest completed examination. Three more opportunities will be provided as described above when the course is run next time.

Transitional provisions

The student has the opportunity to be examined under a previous course syllabus within a year after the date of the course was decided closed-down or undergoes major changes.

Other directives

Course evaluation will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines established by the Board of Education at Karolinska Institutet.
