Objectives
To introduce basic knowledge and skills in clinical obstetrics and gynecology. To take a medical history of non-pregnant and pregnant women and perform obstetrical and gynecological examination. Treat common diseases in non-pregnant and pregnant women. To identify serious diseases in women.
Content
The student receives an individual schedule within the field of obstetrics and gynaecology which includes: preeclampsia, intrauterine growth retardation, early and late onset of labour, bleeding in late pregnancy, complications post partum, the gynaecological aspects of an “acute abdomen” patient, genital infections, bleeding irregularities, urinary incontinence and prolaps, family planning counselling. The student will also have opportunity to observe obstetrics and gynaecological surgery.
Teaching methods
The rotation includes continuous personal supervision. Depending on the students experience and ability the student might be able to take a more active part in the work. The student is required to study the course literature and to write a log book.
