Sharing and verification of degree certificates
On this page, students and alumni can find information on how to share information about their degree with any recipient, such as an employer. Employers will also find information on how to verify that an individual holds a degree.
Share information about a degree certificate
Students or alumni who have been issued a degree certificate can share information about their degree by logging in to Ladok for students or Ladok for alumni. This is done by retrieving a control code in Ladok and sending it to any recipient. By sharing the control code, you enable the recipient (for example, an employer) to access the details available in Ladok about your degree and its content. The control code is valid for six months.
If you want to see what is shared with the recipient, you can log in using the control code and your personal identity number (personnummer). The same control code can be used multiple times and for multiple recipients.
How to share information about your certificate:
- Log in to Ladok.
- Go to "Degrees and certificates".
- Select "Share certificate".
- Share the retrieved control code and your personal identity number with your intended recipient(s)
For employers or recruitment agencies
Verify a digital degree certificate
As of 1 April 2024, Karolinska Institutet issues digital degree certificates. The digital degree certificate is a PDF document that contains an electronic stamp (e-stamp). The e-stamp confirms that the document originates from a trusted source and has not been altered. The e-stamp can be verified directly in established PDF readers or by uploading the document to Ladok's verification page.
The validity period of the e-stamp is 2 years.
Verify degree information
If you need to verify that an individual holds a degree, you can easily do so digitally. Using a control code provided by the individual whose degree you wish to check, along with their personal identity number, you can view details about the degree and its content. The information is retrieved directly from Ladok.
You can check degree information by following these steps:
- Go to the page Verify certificate information.
- Enter the control code and personal identity number (provided by the individual whose degree you wish to check).
Verification of a degree certificate issued on paper
Degree certificates issued on paper can be verified by contacting the Archive at arkivet@ki.se.
