Md Ebrahim Molla
Meet Md Ebrahim Molla, one of SI Global Professionals recipients for 2026.
What brought you to Karolinska Institutet?

"One night shift changed everything for me. A patient waited six hours for a blood culture result that never came because the lab had run out of collection bottles. It made me realise that clinical skills alone aren't enough – the healthcare system itself needs to work. That’s what led me to health economics and policy, and eventually to KI."
What do you hope to bring back to Bangladesh?
"I’m going back to Bangladesh – that was always the plan. I want to use what I learn at KI to help build a stronger, more evidence-based healthcare system, particularly in areas like antimicrobial resistance. In the long term, I hope to strengthen the use of economic evaluation so better decisions become the norm."
What motivates you when things get challenging?
"Honestly, it’s the patients I couldn’t help properly because the system let them down. That stays with me. But it also reminds me that system failures can be fixed. That belief keeps me going and makes me want to learn the tools to create real change."
