"As a midwife in Uganda, I have witnessed how maternal mortality, limited access to healthcare and health inequities affect vulnerable communities. These experiences made me realize that improving health outcomes requires more than clinical care – it also demands strong health systems, research and effective policies. This motivated me to pursue Global Health at Karolinska Institutet."

How has your background as a midwife shaped your goals?

"Working closely with women and families has given me a deep understanding of the challenges they face, including preventable maternal and newborn complications. These experiences strengthened my passion for better healthcare systems, health education and equitable access to quality care."

How do you hope to make a difference through your education?

"I´m to use my education to improve maternal and newborn health and promote equitable access to quality healthcare in Uganda and beyond. I hope to contribute through research, policy, leadership and evidence-based interventions, while advocating for sustainable healthcare systems and better outcomes for vulnerable communities."
