Content

Emphasis will be put on the students training in psychiatry history taking and mental state examination. Time is given for studies of literature and Internet searches

Teaching methods

Mostly clinical work and auscultation at different clinics. The extent of participation in patient care is determined by the student’s experience and ability. The student is required to study relevant literature and to write logbook. The rotation includes personal supervision delivered by a physician at the unit. When arriving at the psychiatric department at Karolinska University Hospital - Huddinge or Solna - or at the psychiatric department at St Göran´s hospital, the student will get a detailed schedule. Any absence must be reported to the supervisor, who also makes a decision about how the student should compensate for the absence.

Examination

A logbook should be written by the student and has to be reported to the supervisor. The logbook should include relevant information about the patients encountered each day. One of the patients should be explored and presented more in detail. The logbook data has to be presented no less than five days before the end of the rotation.should compensate for the absence.
